Bunnings Mentone and Dulux give a helping hand

A recent joint promotion between Dulux paints and Bunnings Warehouse has resulted in a fantastic windfall for some local volunteers.

Dulux refunded a percentage of money from sales of specific paint lines sold through Bunnings stores over this years Australia Day long weekend for the hardware store to donate back to a local, volunteer emergency service organisation.

Bunnings Mentone chose Chelsea SES to be their recipient and last Thursday afternoon, a cheque for $2,055 was handed over to Chelsea SES volunteer members in the paint department of the Mentone store.

Sharlene Swayn, Activities organiser for the Mentone store said “we’re very happy that the money is going to good use through the fantastic work of the members at Chelsea SES”.

Sharlene just might want to swap the red for orange sometime in the future

Chelsea SES spokesperson Phil Wall said “donations like this take so much fundraising pressure off of the shoulders of our members”. “Fundraising used to be done 3 or 4 times a year but now it’s a 365 days a year effort” he said.

There are no definite plans yet for how the money will be used , but whatever it is, it will be used to help Chelsea SES to continue their  work for the community.

Every volunteer member of the Chelsea SES unit say a huge thank you to Bunnings Mentone and Dulux paints for being fantastic community neighbours. It is this spirit of giving from big business that makes our job just that little bit easier and for that we are truly grateful! Cheers to all concerned.
