Chelsea crew takes part in bushfire recovery exercise

The first Chelsea SES crew to attend a bushfire recovery event in Humevale spent the day clearing vegetation from fence lines and recovering wire from fences destroyed in the February bushfires.
The crew comprised team leader, Stephen Wall, and members Allan Crompton, Rob Gowling and Evette Davis.

After an early start from Chelsea LHQ, the team arrived in the Humevale area at about 8am and spent the day clearing fence lines and retrieving fence wire to enable new fencing to be erected without hindrance.
SES Regional Officer, Alan Barnard briefed Chelsea SES team leader, Stephen Wall, on the work to be done as part of the Humevale bushfire recovery exercise.

The SES sought crews of four from units in the central region with SES-approved chainsaw and 4WD qualifications to take part in the bushfire recovery event.
The 10-week exercise will continue until the end of May with work to be done on about 60 properties.
