The offending tree down from New Years Eve.

Our first job for 2010 is already under our belt with the team from Chelsea called to a large tree branch down at a Bay Street property in Mordialloc at about 8.30am on New Years Day.

The property owner, Julianne Miller, said that they heard a loud crash at about 11.30pm on New Years Eve and discovered a large branch had snapped off of a huge Gum Tree in the property behind hers, coming to rest on her back fence.

Trimming back the foliage to enable us to see the wood for the trees.

“At first we thought that the Christmas tree had collapsed but when we looked outside we saw the tree on the new fence” said Julianne.

The main branc secure, the cutting begins in earnest.

The main problem for the crew from Chelsea was to bring the bow down safely without damaging the fence if at all possible. Firstly the branch was secured with ropes and then some foliage was trimmed back.

Take the strain! The hold your breath moment.

Down safely with minimal damge to that brand new fence.

Once the main cut was made, the branch separated with the foliage left resting on the fence and the rest of the branch able to be lowered with no minimal damage to the fence. 2010 is off and running and the first job has been completed, not a bad start.

A quick clean up and job number 1 for 2010 is complete.

Happy New Year from everyone at Chelsea SES!
