Weatherboards Overboard

Asp1

After sweltering through 37 degrees all day on Friday (20/11/2009) the cool change swept accross Melbourne bringing relief to thousands. But for one amazing lady in her 90's, the cool change had a little surprise in store for her!

A gust of wind had ripped a number of Mae's weatherboards off of the side of her beachfront property just below the roof line. The timber feature left a large hole that needed to be covered as the forecast was for rain and possible thunderstorms. A crew with 5 members from Chelsea SES were dispatched just before 3pm and the decision was made to cover the hole with thick black plastic as  a temporary solution to ensure that the rain and wind were kept at bay. After almost 3 hours all was well,  with the hole covered and the property's insurance company being informed so that they could undertake a more permanent repair as soon as possible.
