The large Gum tree that created the need for a new fence

When Mordialloc fencing contractor Chris Demitri heard the wind howling on Sunday morning (11/4/2010) he must have wondered if there would be some extra work coming his way with fences being blown over. What he didn’t expect was that the next job for a new fence would be his own.

At about 11am, Chris and wife Andrea heard a loud crack from the back yard, “we go camping a fair bit and I new that noise as we had heard it before, it was a tree coming down” said Chris.

All caught up together

On closer inspection he saw that a large Gum had lifted out of the ground taken out his fence and was now leaning against his neighbours Wattle tree.

The Gum had been lifted out of the ground by the high winds

Chelsea SES was called in and it was decided that the job was so big that 2 crews were needed to tackle it.

Staring to see the wood for the trees

Seven members in 2 vehicles took almost 4 hours to take the gum tree down and leave the site safe, now all that’s left is to find time to put up the new fence, lucky that they know a fantastic fencer and I’m sure that the price will be just right!
